Today marks the first official day of Autumn. However, those light touches of fall weather we were experiencing have temporarily been tucked away and taken over by an Indian Summer. Who can complain about a few more weeks of warmth, right? Not us!
An Indian Summer presents the perfect time for Fall cleaning! Ever heard of it? It’s a lot like Spring cleaning, but in the fall, of course! And, as always, we’ve compiled a few helpful tips to help get your home ready for the seasons to come.
- It’s always a good idea to change your air filters once every 2-3 months, and more frequently if you have furry friends running about your house. But, with the drastic temperatures that summer brings, your air unit generally works overtime to keep you cool. So, show it some love and replace those filters!
- Just like an air unit, if you have ceiling fans, you’ve probably been utilizing them more frequently in the summer months. Fan blades gather more dust than what you realize. Give the blades a good clean! Then reverse your fans. The blades will move air upward to disrupt warm air that collects near the ceiling and disperse it downward.
- A hefty task it may be, cleaning out your gutters is a must, especially before a multitude of leaves begin to fall. Keep them de-cluttered as often as possible, and it'll make for an easy job. So, climb up a ladder and get started!
- Check your windows and doors for damaged weather stripping or cracks! Before the winter cold settles in, you definitely want to make sure all drafty areas are sealed.
